How To Makeover Your Fireplace for All Seasons

Need to get your fireplace spruced up? Your fireplace becomes a focal point in your home without it even meaning to. So it’s important to keep it clean and keep it nicely decorated. But if you want to give it a makeover that will fit every season. Here are a few ideas you can use!

Spring

Use fresh flowers and garlands to decorate.

Make your fireplace mantel decor simple yet stylish by arranging favorite pieces such as artwork, lanterns, tapestry, flowers in a vase. The flowers not only freshen up your home but also gives your home a nice spring touch.

Stagger items of different heights and widths in front of each other to create depth - which is key to an attractive display. If you have time to DIY more, you can also do wreaths and garlands to hang over your fireplace mantel.

Summer

Make it colourful and fun.

Summer is all about fun in the sun and to showcase this, think bright and loud colours. This dominant element attracts the eye and stretches the scale, providing visual oomph. If there’s no room on the mantel for large pieces such as lanterns or colourful picture frames, lean it or hang it on the wall behind.

If you like to keep the colors muted, just pick two colours that are the complete opposite and plan your decorations around those to make a stand out decor.

Fall

Choose fall colours for your mantel.

For autumn, keep your artwork hanging and lanterns there. You can it play up using harvest colors and textures by spray-painting the lanterns, displaying gourds, replacing flowers with bittersweet blooms, and adding wood-bead garland painted with fall colors.

Fall foliage and pinecones also serve as great decor. Mix all of these elements together across your mantle or you can stagger them artfully.

Winter

Create a Christmas wonderland decor.

Decorating for Christmas is always a fun occasion. And your mantel should be able to grab the spotlight since it’s where family and friends usually gather and open gifts and where stockings are hung. So you want your mantel to say Merry Christmas!

Add tabletop Christmas trees, minimal garland, pillar candles and stockings, but also create a color theme with red and green. You can also fill a vase with white spray-painted branches instead of blooms and hang a few ornaments on them.

Those are a few ideas you can use for decorating for your fireplace the whole year round. And if you’re thinking of getting something more energy efficient like an electric fireplace to replace your wood-burning one, we at Dynasty Fireplaces offer great variants that would fit just about any homes needs.
